پروفسور زلمن یوزینسکین Zalman Usiskin  استاد تمام و آموزشگر برجسته ریاضی از دانشگاه شیکاگو دعوت کنفرانس آموزش ریاضی را برای ارائه سخنرانی در کنفرانس پذیرفته اند. ایشان قرار است که در زمینه مدلساری ریاضی وحل مسایل واقعی ( با کمک عملیات های اصلی در سطح دانش ابتدایی ) سخنرانی نمایند. امیدواریم که دبیران و معلمان عزیز از این فضا استفاده و بهره مناسب را ببرند. متن چکیده سخنرانی ایشان را در ادامه این مطلب قرار می دهیم.

Title of presentation:  Mathematical Modeling and the Operations of Arithmetic

 

Abstract:  We typically think of the operations of arithmetic (addition, multiplication, etc.) as applying the mathematics that we teach and want students to learn.  In this talk, we look at the operations as emanating from broad types of real-world situations whose importance is the reason for their learning.  We call these types use meanings of the operations.  These use meanings are applied mathematics counterparts to pure mathematical properties such as commutativity, distributivity, etc., and teaching them explicitly has benefits throughout the study of arithmetic.  Like their pure counterparts, they apply beyond whole numbers to rational and real numbers.  They exemplify and are the forerunners to the study of mathematical modeling in higher mathematics.
